But then it must be hard on days like today to find something to moan about. Fair play to him for finding something.

Dont think hes far wrong tbh.

We create so many chances but not only that. Lots of half chances..

A proper goal scoring striker who can make things from half chances or finish clear cut ones.. we would score a lot more.

Think today. Hirst had maybe 3 or 4 half chances of being played in but didnt make the most of it. Azon had a few too.

Who that striker is. Dont know.

Yep, pretty much agree with you there.

It's a dig at Hirst, who I thought was good today. Ploughing a lone furrow up front but kept their defence occupied.

What do you disagree with? If we had a lethal finisher we'd have won that game 5 or 6-0.

Other than it being fairly obvious that having a more ruthless/confident finisher would help us kill games off more quickly, I don't think it's great to be putting up people's posts up on here for the purpose of mocking them.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I dont its a dig. I think most appreciate the efforts of hirst its just hes not very prolific and hes always been more of a hold up team forward than what id call a striker hence why some said last season hirst suited our team more than delap

Funny thing is. Now.. a delap type striker is what we need. Someone who can create something out of small opportunities but also one who can finish those made for him. Its not more about hold up team play with this seasons squad imo.

....he's right.

We were incredibly wasteful in front of goal for large portions of the match today. Yet again.

If we hadn't been playing an absolutely dog crap team we could have found ourselves in trouble before we finally managed to get the third goal.

Wanting a player that has the ability to show some composure in the box and be able to control the ball and finish the majority of his chances isn't really something to moan about.

You could also argue that without their keeper making some inspired saves it would have been double the score. Our players did their job and hit the target, their keeper did his job and saved half of them. Could we have done better in front of goal? Maybe, but it’s not always down to our players, the opposition also can perform well.

a lot of the posts are way too ipswich-centric.

fact is blackburn have a very effective way of playing away from home, and have won 3 and lost only 1 of their previous seven, against some decent teams

we're not entitled to win so comfortably; we worked hard to achieve it

He has a consistent record of moaning even when we win. I don't follow him but his posts keep popping up.

But I've muted him now so at least that's the end of that.

We will get a new striker this window. But we're the second top scorers in the division and have the second best defence too. And in McKenna sides the goals are shared around.

“I’m mad because we only won 3-0” is a good reminder of our progression over the years. Nobody is really hammering teams in this league, yet we are expected to do it every week . It’s a weird season.

He was lucky to get away without a booking today though when he brought himself down on the edge of the Blackburn box when we were in a very good position.

Delap's conversion rate in the PL was considerably lower than Hirsts in 24/25
https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/l

Although in a lower league, Hirst is currently well ahead of Delap again.

I think we play much better as a team with Hirst and his selfless play than we did with Delap. A little like United with Ronaldo the second time around, the goals for the rest of the team dried up. We're scoring a lot but also missing a lot. It's about confidence, form and application for me, not necessarily about ability.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Cant quite compare the two at this level for different reasons

1 delap playing wide right role alot when he was in it and for hull.
2. Delaps younger anyway so you'd expect better from an older player

But i was similar to you tho about Hirst last season. I felt his all round game we were missing. But he was much better at finishing as youve shown too. But then delap did shoot from anywhere so his conversion you'd expect to be lowish really. I think i was delap had something like 60 shots at goal with hirst having about 16. Hirst did look like a different beast tbh compared to this season tho. Quicker. Stronger. I dont see that this season and I was similar to someone else higher up the thread. I thought he was gonna be a beast this season.

I've spoken to a couple of ex-players recently who feel number 10 is more of an issue for us than number nine, although also thinking we need more there as well. It is notable how few goals we've scored from there this season when in the last few seasons Chaplin has scored so regulary. Szmodics's today was the second by my reckoning from open play. Also a massive disparity between our goals from the left and right.

Any noises on that right side Phil

Egelis stats are shocking in comparison to the left.. is it something that you see KM persevering with or do you think he might bit the bullet and move him inside soon.

Maybe egeli in the 10 may solve both those issues

But what do you with nunez? Would it work him in the pivot? Weve seen a fair few instances with azor being slow occasionally on the turn.. we also saw when nunez played there earlier on that he was being found out being slow to get moving and causing problems in our own half..

Not heard anything but I think Sindre would have to show more out wide before moved into the middle. Don't really see Nunez for the Azor role. Alongside him is presumably what the plan was when he was signed and he sort of fell into the role he's now in, which I'm not sure entirely works. Has pluses at times but minuses in other ways, although I thought he made more of an effort to get into the box today and got into some good positions.
