Sky just said they understand Mehmeti will become a Town player having passed a medical today for a deal worth £3m

Cheap to be fair.

Bet Ashton has absolutely loved waving his member at Bristol City.

Wowza. O'Rourke was right then...

I wonder if we've got it done in time for him to be involved tomorrow?!

Depends who the mystery injury is. If it'sd Szmodics then there is a very good chance.

No not him, why is Ashton making last minute panic buys again. He isnt a striker / holding midfielder. Cry cry cry

Just getting in first!

I wonder if he's viewed as our genuine Chaplin upgrade? Equally diminutive and capable of scoring and creating.

Nice! Cheap as chips that. A class addition where we need some reinforcement. Some would say it would make more sense for his and Mcateers fees to be reversed. I couldn't possibly comment 😗

£3m for a player with 8 goals and 6 assists this season is crazy value.

Out of contract in the summer, if he had a couple of years left he's worth double that.

Cant be mad at that. Good player, instantly makes us stronger for a decent fee. Will turn a good profit on him whenever we choose to sell.

Happy days

Yeah, he strikes me as being more Chaplin like than our other options, and can very clearly take half chances, let alone clear chances. I think he'll score plenty for us.

Bit surprised as not sure he's exactly what we need currently and personally don't think he's good enough for the PL.

However it gives us good cover and if it helps us get up 3m will be a bargain.

I'd be far more excited if we got Louza.

KMc not one to rush players straight into the side but given the current injuries and the fact he played in front of us on Tuesday it wouldnt be a shock if he takes part tomorrow in some way (assuming they registered him in time)

Quite … hence spending £3m on him and leaving Chaplin at Portsmouth.

Exactly the type of signing we should be making. Raises the floor of the team again, bags of potential at just 25 and a decent fee. Just 3M for a player who is realistically a 10M+ player.

Who cares if we might not need him on the left. A great piece of business for the medium-term.

Think we defo need some cover in the number 10 role. Nunez has done well there but not sure he's a natural in that role necessarily, more of an advanced 8 and doesn't bring much direct goal threat other than from free kicks. Szmodics and Akpom haven't looked good enough for that role. Mehmeti looks well capable of playing there as well as giving us cover on the left and right. Good to have a versatile option and one who adds to our goal threat.

I'm not convinced he's better than what we've got, but he certainly gives us proven Championship depth. One I imagine we'll turn a profit on, he can play a role over the next few months.

Think it's going to be tricky to upgrade in the January window so adding depth in key areas is probably the focus. Mehmeti is a top end Championship player (similar profile to Clarke I'd suggest) and he'll have the benefit of half a season getting used to how we play before we (hopefully) need him to step up and be a useful squad option at a higher level. Think there's a chance he goes on to be our main 10 as well, he can do a bit of linking play, can carry the ball, and can score. He's probably the most complete option we'll have in that role, although Nunez has done well there of late.
