Our "supporters" on social media - scum 17:42 - Feb 14 with 4299 viewswaveneyblue

So today, ive witnessed.

An Ipswich "fan" who's gone to the considerable effort to make a montage of George Hirst missing chances/penalties

An Ipswich "fan" joining in with a Norwich fan's post, criticising our signings.

Not to mention the pages that actively put a negative spin on absolutely everything Ipswich Town whilst claiming to be a long term "fan"

Maybe im old or a "Happy Clapper" but I find this behaviour utterly bizarre and really sad.

Some of our so called supporters are fooking turds.

Our form over recent months is excellent - if this is the response from supporters now, imagine what we'd be seeing if we were actually struggling.

It's been an absolute disgrace this season.

It actually makes me miss the crowd from pre game changer. As dire as it was, at least everyone there was a supporter.

It’s always happened, just social media gives a more public platform. Thats why I rarely look at anything Ipswich related on FB, X or Instagram and when these things appear on my feed I just block them and see less and less, although I rarely post and only use for some specific interest groups outside of football anyway.

This season has been abysmal.

But I guess social media gives idiots a place to perform to the like minded.

I'd rather see 15,000 genuine fans at PR than 30,000 of which half are fair weather fans.

Nothing wrong with differing views, nothing wrong with being frustrated after losing a game.....everything wrong with a large % of stuff I've seen, not just on social media but on here as well.

The point about ashton however and if hes the right man to oversee the recruitment using the sort of funds at the clubs disposal... there may (MAY) be a point with that.

I was going to post on another thread about how our form tends to wobble between mid December and mid February under McKenna before picking up, which worked for 22/23 and 23/24 (I ignored 24/25 because... yeah).

However, from 13th December we've won six, drawn two and lost two, picking up 20 points at an average of two points a game. That's not a wobble.

Exactly. We had a slow start to the season, and a few made up their minds at that point that the season was a write off, McKenna is a one trick pony, our recruitment was a disaster etc etc.

They are so set in that position that they refuse to accept that we are doing OK.

I deactivated FB years ago because of the amount of sh1te that the 'algorithm' selected to show me, and then of course the rise in misinformation around Covid etc.

As you've mentioned, social media has given people the platform to voice their opinion, they then get a little tingle when someone else agrees with them, giving them some sort of validation they've probably never had. I only reinstalled X last year to follow Ipswich and FPL content, and am now considering deleting again because of the hate, vitriol, and head loss after each defeat.

Fans seem to also forget that our players will have their own social media accounts, so there is a chance that they may come across one of these posts.

I steward at PR, the back to back was an incredible time, everyone seemed happy and thankful that the club was moving forward after years of stagnation, and now, the negativity far outweighs the positivity.

The fact that Musk allows grok to let users sexualise images of children, should have been enough for everyone to delete that cun+’s platform, some time ago.

it would surely be more effort to find clips of Hirst doing anything of quality, as opposed to fluffing his lines, likely only took him 5mins to produce.

you aren't a happy clapper i hate that term, its up there with bed wetting for me. but constantly calling out fans that dont agree with being positive all the time is a tiresome read

But all the people called out on this thread were there pre Game Changer. The idea that everyone who put up with the shambles under Evans were saints and superfans is as preposterous as the suggestion that the only negativity comes from returning fans.

Enjoy your up arrows,.

Its not about not being positive, it's about being way over the top negative.

People have list their minds with negativity over a season that's been pretty good so far.

now i see it as people trying to be over the top positive. funny old game isnt it.

its been an average season so far for me personally, respect others have a different view. but for me the away performances have been really disappointing, and number of home games too. we are where we are and that's great. but so much is on us needing to win these games in hand, which we know isn't a given.

I'm sure we all have friends that watch town that aren't really "fans" and to hear some of their observations on certain players or games is really interesting. there's no bias or favouritism - just rounded individuals passing comment on the sport they follow.

I don’t see anything wrong with a bit of flouncing in the heat of the moment, it’s an emotional game and everyone deals with them differently. But those examples are just odd. The Norwich one may even be the least sad, although not exactly the done thing lol - if it was an off the cuff reactionary comment. To put effort into making videos slagging our own players or persistent negativity about everything are not the marks of a fan at all.

Or in short, what c0cks.
