You want to throw the chairman who has overseen what is arguably the greatest ressurrection the club has ever had - out over something that just doesnt agree with your personal voting and political preferences.

i believe in everyones right to think in what they want and believe in what they choose, but calling for someones job over this - is just bizarre behaviour to me - and i think a sense of proportionality is warranted. Nothing illegal has happened, you (and to be fair others) - just dont like it.

theres not a lot more else to be said tbh

If you want to back a Chairman who has

Divided the fans
Upset players
Pssed off staff and sponsors
Made future signings harder
Made future sponsorship worth less
Lied through his teeth and been dishonest.

You're not bothered about the lying to the fanbase and the local media then?

That is totally separate to the politics and you've ignored it entirely in your post.

im off the belief he should stay and i see no reason why he should go. the list youve come up with is subjective and circumstantial at best, with little attribution. all of your points can be counter-argued and/or easily explained

theres things to fall on your sword over, this isnt one of them.

as i said, a sense of proportionality is required.

im happy to admit that ive missed this

however, from what i can see :

* farage visited (a questionable decision at best , but hardly law breaking)
* the comms were unclear and some things came out (this should have been managed)
* its unclear where the initial comments came from
* ashton has made an in person statement apologising

i think the worst crime is the lack of management of comms. ive seen no evidence of "lies" but if you could point me in he direction im happy to re-evaluate

Whilst I don’t condone what happened, you have zero proof on any of this. This is heresay unless you know. The inner workings of the club. Making things up really isn’t helping

I want to throw the chairman who has overseen the greatest resurrection the club has had. Not because I disagree with Farage and everything he stands for politically.

I want to throw him out because he has acted very poorly in allying the club to a highly divisive political party. Although that alone, I could accept an apology for and him coming back from.

I want to throw him out because he lied about what happened. He has shown a lack of the integrity which is demanded at the heart of the resurrection the club has had.

I want to throw him out because he hasn't apologised for any of the above. A vague "we are sorry" without stating what for and containing "but there are a lot of mistruths out there" isn't an apology.

I want to throw him out because he has divided our supporter base and done nothing to repair that.

I want to throw him out because he has upset the playing staff with allowing the racist Farage access to all areas and then to use that access for his own political gain.

I want to throw him out because he has ploughed roughshod over the community work this club has done so well.

Sacking someone for breaking a code of conduct doesn't require them to have broken the law.

Can I ask, why are you happy for Ashton to be held to a lower standard of accountability than the players?

EDIT: I can see that while I typed this you admitted you hadn't seen that Ashton has lied about the situation. He lied to say Farage booked a tour only and that's all that happened and that the club made no approach to him. Reputable news outlets have evidence this isn't true and that there was a lot more that went on. He lied through the club when they released a statement saying the club was apolitical and the incident has been shown to be far more than simply hosting an individual (not even a local MP). His media team was clearly involved in taking footage.

It seems pointless to respond to this particular post - there are far worse posts to pick on - but my fingers are getting stiff from lack of typing:

"over something that just doesnt agree with your personal voting and political preferences"

I reckon there's only a small number of people for whom that is the only or even the main reason.

Even if you have no moral interest in countering far right politics - which is a pretty poor position for a decent member of society to be in if you ask me - but even if you have no interest in politics whatsoever, surely you can see the ongoing damage that this has done and is doing to OUR football club?

I disagree completely.
You are hugely underplaying what has happened
He is not just any MP of any political party.
Will you be saying the same when we get ICE type raids and detentions?
It's not just about political disagreement.
And then you have the lies and non apology

I don't know how it doesn't get through to you people, I mean it's intentional hard headedness at this point, no matter how many times people try to explain. It isn't about Ashton's political leanings or the fact that he personally wanted a lunch with farage, but he's tarred the club with that brush and by extension the fans who do not wish to be. Further to this who knows what repercussions there will be if we do not distance ourselves from it. Without getting into the lies etc...

I see you're hiding behind the old free speech argument though, so are probably too far gone.

Farage visited. If that was all it was, there would be no issue. However, the club invited him to exceptional access. Even that could be accepted if it hadn't additionally involved Reform's media coverage of it.

The comms involved direct lies that stated Farage visited without invite. That was untrue. The comms have been extremely poor throughout because either the ITFC comms didn't know what had actually happened or they were trying to deny it. Both are a dreadful state of affairs.

Which initial comments are you referring to?

What has Ashton apologised for? This (non-)apology came after he was shown to have been lying and is wrapped in a vague "there are a lot of mistruths out there". Until he clearly states what he is apologising for and clarifies which lies are his and what the other lies are he would have been better saying nothing at all.

I am going to apologise for just C+Ping a link to something I posted yesterday, but I must have written about 100,000 words over the weekend, and I am sure most are very tired of hearing from me.

To be clear, everyone is entitled to their view, but below is mine and why this really is not a political issue as far as I am concerned (although without doubt the politics have caused a massive rift).

I hope this goes someway towards explaining why my view is not aligned with yours (and it is just that: my view)
