"more division" - getting behind the team while calling for a malignant figure's departure are not mutually exclusive. We've done it many times before, indeed prior to most such departures. Ashton is sufficiently removed from the playing side that it'll have little impact on the players. Far less than than when we've called for a manager to go.
From Phil's whispers from the players, they might even be relieved and supportive that we aren't just letting this slide.

In all honesty, the trust has been well and truly broken for me. Without a doubt he could have rescued it last week, but as he doubled down and doubled down again that window slowly inched shut.

And I think that's the rub. Even if he were to do all these things, and let's be honest, there is absolutely zero evidence that he ever would. How could we possibly trust that he was even being remotely sincere.

I want to say that if he apologises properly and is candid in explaining the events that led up to that meeting I would be forgiving - but the yellow card against him will not be rescinded.
But since then, his treatment of Blue Action has really pissed me off and I simply can’t shake the feeling off that he is a complete and utter c**t and that his ego will eventually sink the club.

Anybody who doesn’t want Ashton out is probably too naive to understand what’s actually happened. The non statement that was obviously a lie, then when that didn’t work, apologize without actually apologizing.

Why on earth would you want anybody in charge of the club that thinks you’re a thick cnt like he obviously thinks you are?

I have a suspicion that a chant like that would do little more that show a split in the dan base.
This place is pretty unanimous in our opinion on what happened - none of us like it and most are pretty miffed. But even so I don't detect a unity on what shoukd happen now. I don't get the sense that out in the big, non TWTD, world people feel as strongly as we do. A fear a chant would be a bit of a damp squid. |
