Well Iran now knows it has much of the world by the economic throat by owning those Straits. Thanks Donald. Countries, particularly hated Europe will have to pay their dues if it wants anything moving through there. How the Arab states will view this, goodness knows.
Trump bears grudges. It’ll be interesting to see how hard he comes down on European countries now for not supporting him. I suspect he will be going after Starmer and the U.K. in particular for perceived ratting out on him, especially as it’s so weak.
If I were him, I’d start with ramping up those tariffs and cutting things like information sharing. A quick and easy retribution is for Trump to withdraw from NATO. He needs Congress to agree it, which may be problematic, but it is doable because itserves no purpose for the US now.

Spain is the only NATO country not committed to increase their defence spending to 5% of their GDP. They are quite happy for the rest of us to bail them out of needed. | |
