Didn't come off his line and close the player down when he needed to, came off his line when shouldn't have. Poor decision making. I'm still at a loss why he is even a thing. Walton and Palmer are both fine keepers. We didn't need any more keepers and this proves it. |
Walter and Palmer are not fine PL keepers.
You need to improve but you need to get it right. Hull certainly look like they have, we will have to wait and see if we have done the same. |  |

LOL only morons blame goalkeepers for defeats. They're the LAST line of defence, in an ideal world they would have no saves to make all game! The fact that they do get tested means the midfield/defenders slipped up and either let someone through or created an opening. |  | | |

As a former goalkeeper myself (semi-professional level only) if I was 6'9" facing a penalty, I'd stay dead centre of the goal & wait for a stutterer to kick it
By showing that particular taker, that much of one side of your goal, it made it obvious you were trying to make the taker go that side
But the taker knows you're going to be moving that way so is always going to put it in the smaller space you've just vacated, as it'll be harder to change back
Please, especially as tall as you are, stay in the middle of your goal for the next penalty(s) & I'm sure you'll be celebrated as the new Paul Cooper! |  | | |

Scherpen could well turn out to be brilliant keeper for us. And, so far, he hasn't cost us any points because any keeper would be on the losing side yesterday.
But.... I still haven't seen anything yet that indicates he's a better keeper than Walton. It's early days and we've got to give him a chance. | | | |

It was a very poor attempt at mind games wasn’t it? I was convinced he was going to double bluff, shape to go left but then stand his ground on that side. To actually go the way he had telegraphed handed the initiative to Bruno Fernandes. It was very odd.
He may still have not got close to it of course, but his approach to it draws more attention to himself when he doesn’t. We wouldn’t be talking about it had he used a normal keeper approach.
Other than that I didn’t think he was too bad. A few kicks straight into touch, but that’s not a massive issue as he can avoid that when he has the ball in hand with his throws over half way. He’s not going to be a Hladky sweeper keeper, but hopefully we don’t want him to be. |  |

His performance today has left me a lot of worries. Punches crosses when he could catch. Distribution awful. WTF was the penalty routine. I have big big doubts |
Scherpen with his arms up must be approaching a ball catching height of 10ft, even before he jumps, if he needs to. He really should be catching most if not all corners and crosses across his six-yard box, not punching.
His throws are long and mostly accurate, but his kicking needs a lot of work, he does look like a decent shot stopper and gets down quickly for a giant. |  |
