My last town game! 14:29 - Oct 18 with 1509 viewsDaninthecampo

Having moved to Spain years ago my last town game was 18th Oct 2014, a dismal 1- 1 draw to 10 man Blackburn( under 17k attendance) all i can remember is their injury time equaliser and McGoldrick looked like the only player with any kind of ability on the ball. Probably magnified playing next to Sammon! It seems Mings was playing but can't remember him looking particularly good.
I've now managed to get a ticket for Friday, I'm so looking forward to going back to Portman road where I spent so much time when I was younger and even as a Mascot when Butcher was still captain.
To be able to experience it full again and watch a team full of good exciting International players is going to be great, I Can't wait!
Vamos Ipswich!

When is your next game? Very hard to get tickets these days…

But the whole club is next level now and it shows at the ground and in the atmosphere. Managed to keep up getting to at least one game a season and it’s been a great journey

I remember that game, 2 great freekicks, one by MvGoldrick (from memory it hit the underside of the bar) and a sickner from Ben Marshall for Blackburn in 90+ minutes.

As others have said its like a different world now. I arrived about 3 hours before kickoff for the Fulham game and just walked around the stadium admiring her. Everything is clean, the brickwork on the Cobbold, everything sparkling.

(I would like to see the plinth of the Sir Bobby statue cleaned up a bit, I suspect at some stage during the Cobbold rebuild the3x statues get moved so they become easier to maintain)

Sorry to hear of the prime mover for your visit, cancer is one evil bar steward

I hope the difference to your last visit on top of the above isn't too emotional, but is enjoyable

2014 is a lifetime ago & a different world, in many ways, not just ITFC

Where in Spain are you? We're contemplating doing the same one day but one of the reasons for not doing it is missing the football (and the kid!) but guess in 2014/15 the pull of Portman Road was not so strong!

Enjoy your trip!
