This must come under the file of away games to take points from. While some are pointing towards the fact they didnt play particularly well against Brentford, I maintain , they still got a point out of it ( very similar to the outcome of our own game against Forrest).
Very similar clubs and set ups , increased by both being fresh from the championship. The similarities do not end there, both also have a very strong team ethic and spirit as is witnessed by both teams occupying mid table positions prior to the game.
I would most certainly take the point if it was offered here and now, they are physical, with the stature to win battles through the centre of the field. This is something O'Neil will be aware of and a similar line up to Manchester City must be a possibility. Matusiwa in midfield would be my choice beside Palacios. Another hard fought game coming where we will have to be at our best and utilise the squad throughout.

Yes, but the 24 minutes he played in the game at their place were amongst the best 24 minutes of football seen in Hull last November. 2 games worth of running riot in that 24 minutes.

I thought as much too, we turned them over last 20 odd mins when it counted and Philogene was instrumental.

For the record I am not an avid JP supporter overall but for the purpose of this exercise he did impact the last game at Hull.

Think it will be a lot tougher than many imagine, to be honest.

Nothing in Hull's underlying stats to suggest they're much worse than any of the other bottom half sides. They're 16th for XG difference (we are ... 20th).

Going to be a strange one I think. Hull will have us down as one of their easiest fixtures. After their start to the season, they're probably increasingly confident that they might stay up and will have a sense that they might be better than us. Yet their game plan is largely formulated around accepting that the opposition are going to dominate possession and that they should aim to defend compactly and look to set traps to force turnovers as their main attacking threat. Do they just look to do the same things to us? Or look to impose themselves a bit more?

It's definitely a must not lose game that's for sure. Ideally one we need to win. That said there are no easy games, the chance to go above them is the prize, the table is starting to take shape and another winless game will see us closer to the drop zone.

Would I take a point? probably but really hoping we can win this one especially as I am making the 360 round mile trip.

I may be out of turn for saying this, but I think Jaden may be a different type of character than you usually see in football, he comes across neurodivergent in my personal opinion. I don't think scoring against a former club is something that will motivate him any more or less, I think he plays his game regardless.

Based on what exactly. He doesn't come across that way at all to me.

He's a proper London boy to be honest. I think he just doesn't do the whole media thing naturally. People jumping to opinions about him to be honest.

Not yourself but I really think there is a weird anti Jaden thing going on right now that I don't like at all.

Plenty of interviews with him behaving normally. He's a bit of a city lad really.

Hull are going to lose the stat battle in almost every single game they play this season but they are, by design a team that prioritises solidity and staying games as long as possible. If they manage to stay in games they got a little bit of X Factor up there in Belloumi who's a terrific player and a couple of live wires off the bench.

That being said. They havent won a game since the 29th of august (although I though they were unlucky not to get all 3 at Stamford bridge) and personnel wise they are massively overperforming where they should be. Tim Iroegbunam looked decent on his first start but a midfield 2 of him and Regan Slater should be second best to Palacios and Lukic. Purely on paper it is the worst starting 11 in the league (maybe Cov) imo so credit to their gaffer who is doing an amazing job.

Ouatarra
Diop
Dara
Leif
Palacios
Lukic (Florentino if SL not fit)
Fatawu

I would play Maeda on the right like at City and Clarke on the left. Otherwise I agree.

Did the double over them last season...no reason to be settling for draws this season considering we've clearly strengthened our squad to a greater extent than they have

This. I’ll be disappointed if we don’t take all three points, but equally accept any game in the PL is tough. But for me, we have the better squad. Hull work hard and have done well though.

This is where I sit. On paper out squad is better all round and we should be going in hopeful of all three points,, but they will be up front it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Scherpen return in goal. As someone said earlier, they put a lot of balls into the box, and that would play to his strengths.

They've made themselves really difficult to beat and they work at disrupting you. Therefore, I think this might a game where the "moments" make the difference, so feels one more for our flair players, Enciso, Clarke, Philogene, Fatawu etc could well be key.

Also really hopeful that Lukic is fit, allowing Palacios to step slightly further higher, as his passing may well help unlock things in the final third.

Fatawu needs to track back too, like he didn’t on Friday leaving Williams alone on the back post

Paper means nothing, lots saying they've not won since August yet despite these two facts they are above us in the table.

It won't be an easy game and yes we should be hopeful of 3 points I hope they are a bit more attack minded so we don't have to break down the bus.

Irrelevant.

Two completely different teams, one with a different manager, playing in a different division.

We aren't playing well (neither are they), we are away... Rip your hand off for a point!

If we are to win on Saturday that is a really good spot to be in. 13 points from 9 games.

However! You look at the games coming up and think Bournemouth is going to be a challenging, they are basically beating everyone 3-0 now. I had this down as 3 points town before this block of games started as they looked average, funny old game at this level how they can turn it on and around very quickly.

The one change I would make to this is Flemming to start for Emersonn. Flemming has the experience and track record against Championship style teams and I think he could have success against them, likewise Emersonn coming on later against a tired defence

Emersonn is our best striker - he must start in my opinion.

I've seen/heard a lot of this - 'Flemming in for Emersonn' when Emersonn has been really good and generally a massive handful so far.

Shouldn't be underestimated. Have that feel good factor about them and have been miserley at the back.

Lukic to start for me. Absolutely have to look at it as winnable. 3 points here would be huge as the next 3 after ate all teams starting to find some form.

Spurs and Villa particularly difficult and Bournemouth also finding their feet post Iraola, a famous win over AC Milan must have done them the world of good. Tbf we've probably hit those next 3 at the exact wrong time.

Nothing worse than parking the bus but they aren't Cheltenham and think they will go for it. Just saying that if we are not going full throttle for three points from our so-called relegation rivals then we need to

Yes all of a sudden Bournemouth, Spurs and Villa look like 0 points games whereas a month ago they were winnable.
