| James Norwood digging out Ashton on that podcast 19:12 - Sep 2 with 4317 views | Illinoisblue | Expected Norwood to be bitter and a bit simple, but who are the two northerners interviewing him? They make the Chuckle Brothers seem statesmanlike. Norwood: “I did a wrestling match when I was injured” Interviewer: “cor, that’s brilliant int it” Norwood: “my goal gifs went viral on Twitter and instagram” Interviewer: “wait, was instagram around back then?” | |

I initially thought he asked because he'd misheard, but then he did actually require an explanation from Norwood. Thought Norwood came across as a total bell - he deserved to get binned for his rubbish bantz imo.

Certainly came across that way. I was mostly distracted by why the camera views were set to show us as much of the ceiling as the people on the podcast. It all looked very amateur.

Immature for sure, but the stuff about him being told his new job wasn’t the job he was natural at did my swede in. It sums up why we were going so wrong back then. And then if he put the work in to bulk up so he could take on the target man role, that’s a point in his favour. That’s not someone who wasn’t prepared to work for the team. He obviously doesn’t like Ashton and he’s not alone. Without knowing what went on we’ll probably never know the truth of it. I’m more inclined to believe Norwood’s version, as Ashton has shown he’s prepared to lie to us. But who knows.

There is one common factor in that! I listened to about 5 minutes before I was bored of it. [Post edited 2 Sep 22:01]

Given that Norwood is twice convicted of drink driving I'm surprised that people are so quick to believe him to be fair. Notwithstanding the fact he said Ashton came in and said he was "going to get his own players in", when we know that Cook repeatedly said that he would, "be like demolition man" The idea that Norwood lies less than Ashton is wobbly at best.

People believe Norwood because he’s a hero to many (everyone likes a rebel) and distrust, hate Ashton. It’s convenient to forget Ashton didn’t arrive until 1st June and Paul C had already nailed his colours to the mast on Lambert’s unprofessional shower. And rightly so. This EADT article is dated 16th April. https://www.eadt.co.uk/news/21 Norwood was one of them and frankly, listening to him with those two village idiots dribbling on, I’d have wanted him moved on ASAP. Bet the new owners and O’Leary did too. Edit: Norwood said he came to ITFC for the money. Nothing wrong with that, but it suggests to me that one reason he lasted at the club until his contract ran out because nobody else wanted him given the wages he was on. [Post edited 3 Sep 8:01]

I suspect that the Venn diagram of people that think Norwood is a hero and distrust Ashton is 2 very distinct and unconnected circles. #conflictedNorwoodfans

"once the ‘pain’ is over, Cook is convinced the ‘sunshine will start to come through’." Thank you Cookie, you were right! His demolition man and signings really did give us the platform to be where we are now.

| James Norwood digging out Ashton on that podcast on 09:50 - Sep 3 with 1078 views | MattinLondon | Just watched the podcast - well the Ipswich bits at least - and from what I’ve read on here I expected Norwood to come across as some sort of Neanderthal but I was pleasantly surprised. He seemed quite a likeable fella who is capable of self-reflection and recognising past silly behaviour. If he had a tad more discipline and wasn’t so keen on supplying the bantz then he would probably have played more matches at a higher level. He does come across as someone who plays the fool but I don’t think that dilutes the image of Ashton being quite egotistical, duplicitous and not thinking twice before pushing someone under a bus. | | | |

Well, it’s all about opinions and we all see things differently. That’s the fun of it. Norwood had his devoted ‘our Nors’’ following and that’s completely up to them. For me, from the off he struck me as a low rent Chopra (who also had his admirers). I never understood this idea that he did his best for the club either. He really didn’t. He might have put effort in on the pitch, but off it?

Norwood is just a non-league character who managed to work his way up the leagues, to his credit. But just extremely unprofessional.

Thats Lambert isnt it, "you remind me of Grant Holt" even though he played nothing like Grant Holt. He was ok for what we were then but professionalism wasnt ever in his locker was it
