It's got be a toss up between Fulham and Everton although I'm not sure what Palace have done but keeping Wharton probably saves it for them.
Everton got Hackney early but then sold players with no replacements. Grealish back there I guess to smooth things over.
Fulham have signed 3 Madrid youngsters, 2 completely unproven and one already been slagged off by some of the support for being lightweight and ineffective. Wait til they see the latest one! Looks like Fulham are in for a scrap at the bottom, Palace may join them then there's always another, maybe someone like Forest. |  | | |  |

Would add Villa to that, they’ve been cleared out, and look to have little resale value in their team now. Amazed that Fulham let Lukic and Diop go to be honest.
Spurs have gone huge, but remains to be seen whether the problems run deeper than playing personnel. Palace lost a lot of talent so honorable mention for them too. |  | | |

Fulham will be bottom 5 or 6 for sure , I think Everton have one or two young lads who are classy , ( Dibling, etc) but definitely very thin on the ground in class. Both Leeds and Sunderland will find second season syndrome is a very real handicap |  | | |

Everton - I reckon the worst, may struggle for goals, can see quite an attritional style this season as a result.
Fulham - hard to tell yet, they only lost 4 significant players from last year, one of which over 35, yet brought in 6 players plus a loanee, may surprise once players adjust to PL. Challenge will be change of playing style under new management without significant playing staff change, but without doubt hampered by SCR as no major transfer income.
Palace - similar to Fulham, pretty even on flow out and flow in, but again change of manager, change of style and challenge with Mateta sulking . . .
Villa - Would have had them on there until yesterday, some interesting buys in last week of window, will probably slip down to mid table once players bedded in - solid performance vs Arsenal showed potential.
Overall, think we have done some pretty good business, concern at the back remains but the strength in midfield, especially the centre plus two new CF has certainly helped. On top of that the mysterious Outtara who splits opinion may give us all a pleasant surprise once he adjusts.
Certainly feel more confident than I did in 24-25 - crunch games won't be the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool, will be the likes of Palace, Everton and Fulham etc . . . |  | | |

They just don't bring in enough revenue, and their wages eat all the money up. They need to find some way to boost it. Finishing in the champions league spots, but able to spend less than Spurs who finished 17th back-to-back. |  |

Fulham without Wilson's goals and all rounf game will struggle with that loss, along with Lukic and Diop, however they do have some decent players still and that Josh King is outrstanding. | |

Really the PL should look to homogenise the rules with UEFA. It’s daft that qualifying for Europe means you need a fire sale of players.
The PL won’t though as it’s a global commodity now, and needs to maintain competitive advantage in attracting the best players. | | | |

Yes - assumption is that Euro comp money can help offset, but only really works if you make it into CL league stage . . . also compounded by the move from PSR to CSR.

Ultimately it's Cov, nowhere near enough. Of the established, Palace and Fulham look like real boom/ bust type windows, Sunderland would have been hoping for more I'm sure and Everton are definitely short of bodies.
I'm not sure how others feel but this year it feels like there are so many more winnable games.
You're not coming up against a Rodgers/ Watkins led Villa, an Eze led Palace, a world class Newcastle outfit, a tried and tested Fulham side etc etc [Post edited 2 Sep 10:20]

Plus Balogun walking out on them may turn into a blessing in disguise, having failed the first medical they could have been in for Broja Mark II if they continued, and he had the kiss of death to confidence when Trump blagged the overturning of the red card at the World Cup. This rarely happens at the top level.
Last time it happened was Andros Townsend signing for Luton in 2023.
Good free agents aren't signing 6-month contracts either so any free agents they sign will impact January business. | | | |
