Watford's Doumbia Banned For Violent Conduct
Friday, 27th Feb 2026 20:20

Watford forward Mamadou Doumbia has been handed a three-match ban for striking Town skipper Dara O’Shea in the face during the second half of the Blues’ 2-0 win at Vicarage Road on Tuesday.

Referee Ben Toner failed to spot the incident in the 85th minute, the official booking keeper Christian Walton for his protests, but video evidence clearly showed the offence which should have led to a red card for the Hornets sub.

Doumbia admitted an FA charge of violent conduct and has been suspended for three games, starting with this evening’s match at Bristol City.

The booking for Walton was wild, but at least the ban's been handed out

The officials have no chance these days, the level of cheating is so bad

What is the 4th official for. Looks like he was the second ref here and reported it afterwards. Can't he walkie talkie the ref at the time to say you missed a face slap. Maybe it has to be done retrospectively after they've all had a chat.

Well the ref wasn't the only one to miss it, I did too. Justice done retrospectively. I think another of their players could have been sent off 2/3 times too! Not really what I associate with Watford.

The pushing and shoving and holding in the box during corners is criminal nowadays,,should be an instant red for any contact by hand arm or shoulder with a player waiting for a corner kick...

I'd be a lot more annoyed if it had cost us three points. Still good to see some consequences.
