Van Oevelen Loan Move Delayed

Keeper Kayne van Oevelen’s season-long loan move to Valencia has been delayed until Monday, according to a Spanish report.
With the deal agreed, the Dutchman was set to travel to Valencia to finalise his switch on Wednesday, however, according to Tribuna Deportiva, the 23-year-old will now fly out on Monday, Town having wanted to keep him for the weekend due to an injury to another keeper.
Alex Palmer has been sidelined with a sore elbow during the latter stages of pre-season, while Christian Walton has only just returned from his foot problem.
Valencia were keen on recruiting Van Oevelen on a permanent basis prior to his move to Town from Volendam last month but, despite having agreed personal terms, had been unable to settle on a fee with the Eredivisie side.
When Van Oevelen signed for the Blues for £3.4 million, penning a five-year deal, Town had been looking to send him out on loan for the season to a Championship club.
That plan was put on hold when Walton suffered his foot injury in training, but the former Brighton man was with the squad in Germany last week and was on the bench for the friendly victory at Union Berlin on Saturday, although is almost certainly short on sharpness.
It seems likely Van Oevelen will be on the subs bench when the Blues host Sunderland in their opening Premier League fixture on Saturday with fellow Dutchman Kjell Scherpen starting between the sticks.
