Looked a cracking little player at West Ham. Born in Sudbury, 23/24 years old, brought in for £750k by John Lyall from Celtic who knew a good footballer when he saw one. What was not to like? A steal.
Turned out to be a robbery. Basically, he wasn’t very good and his career dribbled away. |  | | |  |

Forgot about Leadbitter. Did he really cost £2.5m?? Deary me.
He was solid enough at getting booked but like you, I expected more than the ham and egg merchant he was. Undoubtedly a disappointment.
Another disappointment was Anthony Wordsworth. There was a lot of fuss at the time about taking him off Colchester after he’d done well for them. Aged around 24, a goalscoring midfielder was just what we needed thought I.
Shame it wasn’t him. 18 appearances, 2 goals, injuries, L1 was his level. |

I think that’s fair. I thought we were signing a box to box solid midfielder. There was fuss about signing him from Plymouth at the time, where he’d played well.
Somehow while he bustled a bit, he was pretty anonymous as a player. He actually made over 100 appearances with 13 goals and madman Keane even made him captain for a while.
He got into a lot of bother over a friend who was jailed, which suggests he wasn’t the sharpest chisel in the box, not long after he joined. I kind of never forgot that when watching him play, any more than I could forget what Lee Bowyer annd Ben Thatcher were. Maybe harsh on my part, but that’s how I saw it. He left on a free after refusing to sign a new contract.
Underwhelming and pretty forgettable is how I remember his time here. | | | |

Just did some digging and I see Norris is still playing, at North West Counties League Daisy HIll FC, his 17th club, not including 2nd stints. |  |
