Baggott Joins Millwall
Wednesday, 15th Jul 2026 18:06

Centre-half Elkan Baggott has joined Championship Millwall on a permanent deal.

We understand the fee could rise to £2.25 million after add-ons with Town having a 20 per cent of profit sell-on.

The 23-year-old came through the Blues academy and went on to make seven senior starts and two sub appearances, scoring once.

Born in Bangkok and raised in Colchester, Baggott won 28 full international caps with Indonesia while with the club, scoring twice, and was the first player from that nation to play in the EFL.

While with the Blues, he spent time on loan at King’s Lynn, Gillingham, Cheltenham Town, Bristol Rovers and Blackpool.

“I’m delighted to bring Elkan to the club,” Steve Gallen, Millwall’s director of football, told his club’s official site.

“He’s a player we’ve been tracking for some time now and we’ve followed his development closely - both at Ipswich Town and through his loan spells in the EFL, where he has picked up valuable experience against senior, physical opposition.

“He’s a good age, has a real appetite to improve and fits the profile we look for defensively.

“Elkan comes in to bolster our defensive options in an area that has been a real strength for us in recent seasons and we’re confident he’ll add real competition and quality to that group.

“We’re pleased he’s chosen to join and we’re looking forward to seeing him progress here.”

Good lad, hope he does well there.

Has always shown promise but has struggled to keep up with our constant promotions so a permanent at a Championship club is a good place to land.

Good luck fella

That's a shame, always assumed he would break through at some point with us but guess we need to aim higher!

Good luck to him, Milwall is a very good more for him!

Pleased for him. Sad that he has gone. Always felt he was just on the verge of breaking through and making a place for himself but never quite did. One incoming then?

Never given the chance to prove himself other than loans to lower leagues. Always looked comfortable in the cup games I saw him play. Hopefully build a good career at Millwall and we added a buy back clause just in case + a percentage when they sell him

Another Good Player leaves permanently- I’m not at all sure everyone is sitting comfortably with our current situation ??
Much needs to change - but I assume the Season Ticket take up total is the overriding important factor - it seems anyway !
Bit late now to change your mind.

Blueboy yes it’s Always gutting to see the guys like him go but he hasn’t been good enough to get in front of Dara etc and fans like YOU want more quality then moan when we let someone like elkan go. If you want more quality he’s not getting in ahead of new signings or the current crop so what keep him for a laugh? it’s like you want to come on and moan at every single thing the club does.

Nice lad and wish him all the very best of luck

Best wishes for your future Elkan, I hope it works out for you. Make your mark, I think that your a victim of our success otherwise you would have had a greater role here.

Good luck to him snd I hop he gets to play games.
He wasn’t going to break into the first team here.
Millwall get a decent player.
We get a few quid.
Makes sense to all parties involved.

Blueboy1981 - What an effing hypocrite you are. Banging on all close season about not getting any players in and MA’s inability to sign big names and now you’re crying because a player is leaving, who if he’d been in the squad at the start of the season you’d be shouting no ambition. You really are a colossal fool.

Good luck Elkan, very good player, very loyal, and I'm sure we will see him thrive with regular Championship football.

I'm very pleased for him. Spent way too long kicking his heels here when he needed to be playing. He's still young enough to have improvement in him and should have the right manager to bring out anything that's there. Very best of luck Elkan. The bonus for Millwall is, it's now their turn to sell a few shirts in Indonesia!

That’s a very good move for Elkan.
Millwall are a nice well run club and Elkan deserves a permanent contract where he should be able to get plenty of game time.

Baggott was the very last link within the playing squad to the pre-Gamechanger era, having made his debut on 6th October 2020 under Paul Lambert.

This is a small but very significant milestone which Town fans might reflect upon. It really is tuning the final page on that part of our recent and inglorious history.

Wes Burns is now the oldest player in our squad (in terms of the time from debut to current day), having made his debut under Paul Cook on 7th August 2021.

Additionally, Burns is now only one of three players left in the squad who pre dates Kieran McK; the others being Cameron Humphries (debut 10th August 2021) and Christian Walton (debut 11th September 2021).

We are all obviously now focussed on the future, but it's good to look back sometimes to recognise and reflect on milestones and what has changed at ITFC. Baggott's departure, certainly brings an old chapter in our history to a formal end.
