And yet, as I point out none of us really knows what the percentages are that feel which way. You are picking numbers out of thin air claiming I am in a small minority as much as those who claim we are in the majority are. My point, that still isn't getting through to you and some others, is that my views haven't changed one bit. I am also yet to meet or see anyone post that they were angry enough to want Ashton out but are now fine with it because it's old news. That is a fallacy you and J2 want to push but I haven't seen anyone who expressed strong opinions about it now say that it's all forgotten or forgiven. This is partly why I am repeating my point. I look forward to the likes of JasonDozzell, Rommers, Ryorry, GB, Vic, the many who pointed out their personal experience of deep insult from what happened all coming on here and stating they are now fine with it. Even if they do, it won't change the fact that I am not. However, so far, I haven't seen a single one of them say they are now fine with it. Just those like you, Flash, J2 and others who wanted to downplay it from the off now telling us it has all blown over. It really hasn't. Not for me, at any rate. I don't know how much clearer I can be than by keep stating it until you listen!

What does being in a small minority have to do with anything? Is the morality of the majority all that matters? I hate that this has happened at my club, regardless of how many people agree with me. It’s fine because most people don’t care? What kind of way is that to think?

I honestly don't think the majority don't care either. Even some of those who want it to be forgotten and want it to have blown over admit they don't like that it happened. And then there are some who were clearly Ashton out before this all happened but have now become Ashton in because it happened like the one Zed pointed out in this thread. The only solution is for Ashton to go. The club must see that. I won't be quiet just because some posters don't like that or think I am a fool for pointing it out.

Oh, and after the match, win, lose or draw, I will repeat my call for Ashton to go. As I will continuously until he is gone. He is a stain on our club.

I’m not convinced that many people care in the way you and I do. Most people just want to support their football club and forget about anything else. That’s how it should be, and in my mind makes it worse, as it’s legitimising the far right through the back door. I don’t want ITFC opening the floodgates.

| Great result. Ashton out! (n/t) on 23:51 - Apr 10 by Blueschev | The club has actively facilitated the far right to produce a party political broadcast on its facilities, and have so far refused to distance itself from it. There has been zero acknowledgement of what they have actually done. They have chosen to associate themselves with the far right, nobody forced them to. |
I haven't said otherwise. People seem desperate to put words in my mouth. If you look back in the thread I merely came here to say I don't think what has gone on means the club endorses racism. That's it. People seem desperate for me to say something else so they can have something to win an argument against, but that is all I intended to say. Even a couple who are trying to disagree with me have acknowledged that it probably doesn't mean the club endorses racism. Everything else I'm with you on. A few days after the Farage incident I literally went on an anti far right march in one of my Ipswich shirts to show my displeasure and that Ipswich fans don't support the far right.

Please take my name out of this. I haven't downplayed things from the off and I haven't told anyone it has all blown over. I was so angry I literally went on an anti far right march in an Ipswich shirt. What have you done apart from ranting about Ashton out on here? (Sorry, I didn't want to have a pop at you as I respect your position, but you chose to bring my name into it on the wrong side). I have merely stated I don't think this incident means the club endorses racism.

I don't think you really know what far right is if you don't think Reform are far right. I'm well aware some fans vote Reform. I literally said a few posts ago that perhaps the club's remaining silent now because they don't want to piss off Reform supporting Town fans.

You can draw a line from Oswald Moseley and the BUF to Farage and Reform. Reform are a far right party. That they've become popular doesn't make them more moderate, it means more people are being attracted by far right politics.

SImply not true, not like you to make a post without researching the evidence first. The EADT were very upset about being lied to, the NTT20 podcast which has a very large following essentially accused the club (and Ashton) of gaslighting the fans. At least three other well followed podcasts did similar. It was in the top read stories in the Guardian for the day. Even now it's spurred Sunderland fans to try and stop Farage visiting their club. discovering that you are in a small minority on this is a step towards realising the difference between the dominant group on here and the real world. it is exposes the entitled and preening expectation that the club, ashton, other institutions and everyone else should always reflect your own views back at you. being in a small minority means you don't always get what you demand - ashton being sacked for example.

I'm quite enjoying you sticking to the line that it's only 40 or so TWTD posters who care when the story received significant national (technically international too) media coverage for over a week and was a talking point on several podcasts and radio shows with nothing to do with Town. Local media were way more vocal in their condemnation of the club's actions than they have been at any time since Gamechanger took ownership. It seems that even when reality gives you a big slap round the chops your hubris won't allow you to flinch.

Im still with you NSB! It was an incredible mistake that gave oxygen (sorry couldn't resist it) to a politician who espouses views that are deeply offensive to many - probably the majority - in this country. Maybe we wont ever know why someone thought it was a good idea - but surely, surely they must see that he used the club for his own ends But for me, worse than that is the utterly pathetic 'apology'. If he just said 'I can see it was a mistake on our part to let him use our facilities to promote his brand/views. This has offended several of the players and staff and a significant part of the fan base. Im grateful to Kieran for keeping the players on track when my actions could have seriously affected the team. Im sorry and I regret that, so it wont happen again' or something like that I could start to get it. But no, a bland non statement followed by silence. Thankfully football and the fantastic position in the league is focusing our minds - but Ashtons folly and apparent self aggrandisement have not been forgotten by Vic. I really hope he is replaced at the end of the season. There are better people out there for the future.

as you know, it takes very few shouty people online for something to get picked up by the media. it's an easy way to fill space - the shouty people provide nice shouty quotes and the 'journalist' doesn't even need to move away from his or her screen. the journalist can even be in another country. all media loves shouty controversy - they cover it just because of the controversy not because of the number of people doing the shouting. even ai could write that sort of content. you got on your highest of high horses and what you've discovered is that it's basically just you and the usual ones who pile into every thread with you. it really could be a dawning of realisation for you, but it won't be. anyway, footy.
