Never been so disappointed by our club.
For people like Newcy to say he doesn’t want to bring his kids to the games, for Rainbow Tractors having to make their account private on Twitter, for the girl who does the Art who’s been dragged into it by Reform, for those of us who’ve received hundreds of abusive replies by far-right scumbags, and for anyone else who - as a result of our clubs actions - have had OUR club cause them problems this week.. for those people I’m going to vote with me feet. I’m not either.
Probably a bit pointless as no doubt it’ll be a small handful who stay away (not a criticism of those who don’t by the way, each the their own etc) and it’ll barely be noticeable I’d imagine. But I’m really annoyed still, sick of Ashton’s arrogance and inflated sense of self importance and feel a bit sick every time I see Farage inside PR. Absolute scrote.

No I don’t have the capacity to understand why he is doing what he’s doing or announcing to the ether that he’s doing it.
Harming the people who work for that club and the team that represent it in my mind cannot be reconciled with the actions of a few individuals at most who caused this mess.
They will be gone sooner or later - along with some of our better players, McKenna and his staff. It’s inevitable. Maybe the bedrock of the club could do with some support? Unless as some do you want to return this club to the warm and comfy decaying sh1t pit it once was.
I’ve no idea how many people work for the club but I doubt many are happy with what happened last week. They work, they do their best. It’s how it is.
From a capacity free ignoramus, nobody goes to a game to cheer Ashton’s neatly trimmed beard or some boxer he’s shovelled into the directors box. They go to watch a game. Partake. Hope, cheer, be happy or sad. It sport and my team. Those that do that have zilch to do with people who nudge up to vermin masquerading as politicians, whoever they vote for.

You're quite right, and those who attend on Monday will hopefully support the team and not let what Ashton and a few others have done over the past week detract from what they do. I think it's important to acknowledge someone such as Rommers, who is as die hard as Town fans come, and their decision to stay away from the game next Monday.
Part of me hopes he changes his mind, because we need fans like him there to support McKenna and the team, but I also think it's worth noting that fans as passionate as him don't wish to attend.
I don't think my original comment was necessarily aimed at yourself, Churchman, so apologies for any offence caused to you or anyone else, but it felt like a bit of a pile-on, and I wanted to acknowledge that there were people such as myself who understood where Rommers was coming from.

If you believe the football club is Ashton and nothing else, then your action is right. If you believe everyone at the club is complicit because they haven’t resigned, you are right. Same for players.
If you believe the club pre dates and post dates these people that did what they did and that it’s bigger and far more important than them, then your actions look wrong to me.

Totally respect that and to be honest I've got no real appetite for going. I would have got Charlton tickets but just not feeling it.
But I'll be going on Monday. Not because I'm not disappointed or angry but out of spite really. Nigel Farage and his mob don't get to swan into town cause a load of toxic division then go on their merry way chuckling as loads of us fall out of love with the football club we've supported all our lives. Mark Ashton with his disingenuousness doesn't get to rob us of our football club. As he's keen to remind us when he's feigning humility, he's "just a custodian".
So, I'll go, I'll support the team and club staff and I'll make my quiet, small, ineffectual, innocuous protest by wearing a badge saying "Love ITFC, F**k Farage" that a couple of other supporters helped me make a bunch of. And hopefully plenty of other supporters will feel the same and I'll feel back at home at Portman Road. Fair play Rommers and i'm totally understanding your stance
I've already posted on here that as it currently stands I will aslo not be going a week monday and will not putting up my ST for re-sale. I will then be writing to the club explaining why. So it is a protest as such.
If Ashton and/or the club come clarify the situation and/or take action then my mind could be changed.
As to what i do for the rest of the season i am undecided.
This has hurt me and my family and caused much distress reason for which i have alreay given. I just cannot be seen to accept what the club (Ashton) have done, it is unaccepable and the response even more unacceptable.
I know some people dont get it but many peole especially those from minority groups have been deeply impacted by this. |  |

I cannot blame Rommy, or any other supporter, for not turning up at the ground Monday week. For all the snide comments being made, and the pressure put on some fans by others that, should we fail to be promoted it'll be their fault, rather than inconsistent performances on the pitch or the politcial grenade chucked into the dressing room by our CEO-cum-Chairman just before a key run of games, the choices being made by the club from the moment the invite was submitted has led to this.
It is very true the club existed before Gamechanger and Ashton, and will do in some guise afterwards. That makes them guardians, to safeguard it not just in the present but for the future, and so many decisions they have made has resulted in sustainable improvement. But this affair is damaging, and the club's laissez-faire response has led me to wonder if it really has the ethical and responsible ownership/oversight I previously thought was in place. They’re running fine. And I’ve the day off booked for it specifically. And the ST is paid for.
I just personally don’t want to go. It’s that simple. Ashtons actions and the subsequent cover-up has made me want to take the stance of voting with my feet. It’s a shame. But it’s my choice. |
Rommers, pls can i suggest that you write to the club advising you as a season ticket holder chose not to attend the game. Then it is an effective protest in that the club will see people are taking action. I will be writing explaining my absense. | |
