Never been so disappointed by our club.
For people like Newcy to say he doesn’t want to bring his kids to the games, for Rainbow Tractors having to make their account private on Twitter, for the girl who does the Art who’s been dragged into it by Reform, for those of us who’ve received hundreds of abusive replies by far-right scumbags, and for anyone else who - as a result of our clubs actions - have had OUR club cause them problems this week.. for those people I’m going to vote with me feet. I think this is getting a bit over the top, if I’m honest.
Not going to a game because a politician visited or had some form of association with the club feels like a massive leap. Football clubs interact with all sorts of people, it doesn’t mean they endorse everything about them or every supporter who might then jump online.
The abuse people are getting online is obviously wrong, no one should be dealing with that. But that’s down to individuals behaving badly, not the club itself. Blaming the club for what random people say on Twitter is a stretch.
Also, terms like “far-right scumbags” just keep the whole thing escalating. It becomes less about what actually happened and more about people shouting labels at each other.
Everyone’s entitled to take a stance if they want, but this feels more like emotion taking over than a proportionate response to what’s actually happened.
At the end of the day, it was a visit/interaction, not the club suddenly changing its identity or values. |  | | |

You've got to make the right choice for you and whatever you do is completely your call. Disgusted at what happened but for me it's on Ashton now. Personally think he should step down but if not he needs to use actions and not his hollow words to turn this around with some quality community initiatives backing up our values.
BUT personally I think we should back the team. None of this was the the team or McKenna. Frankly they need us now.

I’m not either.
Probably a bit pointless as no doubt it’ll be a small handful who stay away (not a criticism of those who don’t by the way, each the their own etc) and it’ll barely be noticeable I’d imagine. But I’m really annoyed still, sick of Ashton’s arrogance and inflated sense of self importance and feel a bit sick every time I see Farage inside PR. Absolute scrote.

Write to the club explaining the reason for your non-attendance (if you do decide not to go). Then it is noticable to the club especially if there are a number of season ticket holders that do this and i think there will be. |  |

1) I was there when we were sh*t. In away ends of 800 at places like Cardiff and Barnsley. Week in, week out. I’ll be there long after Ashton and this influx of the far-right we will have gained this week.
2) Is it a lack of courage to not do something you enjoy doing because you believe the point you’re making is worthwhile? You might know I’m a big horse racing fan. It’s my livelihood. It’s my career. I slated those protestors who went to Aintree a few years ago to tie themselves to the fence. But I slated them for being so misinformed. I admired their decision to stand behind their beliefs. That is courage.
3) Ultimately, me tweeting something pretty mundane that mentioned my disappointment with the club hosting Farage resulted in a hundred bots and strangers giving me sh*t all week. That was as a direct result of the actions of the club’s hierarchy. And our owners haven’t acted. Therefore the club do not deserve my fandom. The players - yes. McKenna - yes. But the club as a whole.. they do not. Not right now.
4) It is my decision to make. That’s my reasoning. I don’t care if you agree. I really really don’t. | |

Rommers, pls can i suggest that you write to the club advising you as a season ticket holder chose not to attend the game. Then it is an effective protest in that the club will see people are taking action. I will be writing explaining my absense. |

No I don’t have the capacity to understand why he is doing what he’s doing or announcing to the ether that he’s doing it.
Harming the people who work for that club and the team that represent it in my mind cannot be reconciled with the actions of a few individuals at most who caused this mess.
They will be gone sooner or later - along with some of our better players, McKenna and his staff. It’s inevitable. Maybe the bedrock of the club could do with some support? Unless as some do you want to return this club to the warm and comfy decaying sh1t pit it once was.
I’ve no idea how many people work for the club but I doubt many are happy with what happened last week. They work, they do their best. It’s how it is.
From a capacity free ignoramus, nobody goes to a game to cheer Ashton’s neatly trimmed beard or some boxer he’s shovelled into the directors box. They go to watch a game. Partake. Each to their own but I firmly believe that there’s more of an opportunity to take a stance by being there supporting the team and the wider fanbase (some of whom has said they’ll be anxious about attending).
