Decided I’m not going to the game Monday 20:43 - Mar 29 with 23076 viewsThe_Romford_Blue

Sometimes you’ve got to take a moral standpoint.

Never been so disappointed by our club.

For people like Newcy to say he doesn’t want to bring his kids to the games, for Rainbow Tractors having to make their account private on Twitter, for the girl who does the Art who’s been dragged into it by Reform, for those of us who’ve received hundreds of abusive replies by far-right scumbags, and for anyone else who - as a result of our clubs actions - have had OUR club cause them problems this week.. for those people I’m going to vote with me feet.

If these people were simply able to be educated out of their ignorance then Reform wouldn’t exist- appreciate your effort to engage in sincerity, but honestly, don’t waste your time- they’re not interested in facts.

I appreciate the response. I don’t want to get into a debate over what counts as a 'large number', but 43,000 relative to the total population may seem small but compared to roughly 1.5X a full Portman Road, it’s less so.

To be honest, even a single undocumented arrival is a concern if there’s no clear understanding of that person’s background or behaviour. For clarity, I won’t be voting Reform, but I’ve still been placed into your 'they' category, which I assume is being taken to mean far right.

One thing I have learned during this whole.episode is that people can be quite unpleasant when others don’t share their views, whether left or right. It’s not a good look.

Nasty people, how dare they have an opinion.

I think it's common courtesy to have some respect for people standing by their morals. You don't have to agree, but to go out of your way to try and make them feel bad does make you a nasty person, yes. And that's just like, my opinion man.

I don’t know who you are and I haven’t placed you personally in any category.

Reality is that most people who are up in arms about this stuff have no direct experience with asylum seekers and aren’t swayed by the cold hard facts of the data.

It’s profligated on fear and ignorance- just as all of Reforms rhetoric is.

Go to the game. Don't go to the game. Watch the game. Don't watch the game. Do what you want.

Bad PR and some South Park'esque "I'm sorry" from Ashton isn't going to kill my love for the team.

It was a pretty dumb decision from all involved though.

Glad you haven't fallen for Reform Rob. UK is a big country, population wise. It's one of our strengths and a reason we're a middle power, despite being pretty small geographically. Try not to think of all undocumented migrants in once place, because they aren't.

Yes, by "they", I meant the hard-right. Not you. Yes hope people here don't place all those tempted by Reform in a big bin labelled "them".

What happens if we only get in the play offs and possibly Wembley, or the last game of the season where we need a win for promotion? Will you turn up then? Will you all let us know? It was one bloke, (not a particular nice one) organised by that tit Ashton, and a few people saying hurty words on the internet, but you decide not to go and support the players.

Wow, I can almost smell the testosterone off the screen from your words E_I_E_I_E_I_O. Does being an edge-lord bad boy get you the girls? Must do.

True to form here come the embarrassing personal insults.

I am not a bad boy and am happy in my relationship thanks so not looking for girls, heaven knows what that has to do with anything.

Merely pointed out the atmosphere will be good on Monday, as you'll see if you can build up the courage to attend.

I'm going because the players I support didn't bring any of this on themselves. Giving up on them now would be hugely counterproductive. Just think about it.

You think they all want to be here?

This season is over. You don’t give footballers excuses, it’s 101, as is not commercially destroying your own club. With petty party politics to self only yourself.

This is bigger than one game or one season, it’s about what WE and those before us spent over a century building, we are known as a community club.

To turn up and clap…, is to do what we’ve all done before, and what caused this…, nodding dogs happy for one man and his agenda to ruin OUR football club.

If we turn up and nod. He stays. If we don’t. Be go’s it’s THAT simple.

The commercial impact will be tens of millions and I don’t see he’s here after the summer, but it’s a hard number to quantify for the owners right now.., they’ll hope to muddle through, which in itself is REALLY poor.

Empty seats and we get out club back, and sooner.

It’s an individual choice - but you know my views on nodding dogs and happy clappers, th apathy empowers Mark, it’s how he gained exclusive control of our club in the first place.

No to Mark Ashton FC - and that requires actions, not tiring up and clapping him, because he WILL frame it as support for HIM, you might distinguish between the players, club and Mark, HE DOESNT, he couldn’t have made that any clearer.

This is why it’s such a difficult situation - there’s masses of validity in what both portmanking and you say - we should all be collectively furious at Ashton for putting us in this position.

Is there any chance Ashton doesn't turn up to the Birmingham game?

It would certainly take the sting out of the game and might be the best thing for McKenna and the team.

Buys another couple of weeks without a full scale protest and then it's Boro which will likely be a game with massive stakes.

Really wouldn't surprise me if they announce he won't be there. If they do, it will likely be on the day of the game.

I resent the point of view that anyone having a different opinion on this subject as being far right.
Yes I agree it was an error by the club to allow Farage a platform. One which I believe is being blown out of all proportion and will if not stepped down will affect the club, players and sponsors.
If we got into the Premier League, which I believe if this campaign continues to gather pace we won't, everyone including those that seem intent on killing the club from within, will want Gamechanger and co to spend millions on new players.
If this situation means fans don't go to games, don't buy shirts, match day programs etc, etc it will affect the club.

And who's fault is this thought their gross misconduct? Who's removal would no doubt improve matters considerably.

There won't be any sting.

I think the vast majority of people inside PR will either be supportive of it, or against it in a non hostile way and channel their support towards the team, or just sit silently with the occasional tut as they do most games.

That's entirely each individuals prerogative by the way, but I can't see there being any unrest towards Ashton or anyone else on Monday.

I agree with what others have said, McKenna and the team deserve support as they haven't brought this situation on themselves and are probably as annoyed about it as anyone.

That doesn't stop people making their own choices at an individual level though.

Have you any idea how much those 43,000 people costs this country and what for?

Try comparing that to the amount of money wasted by politicians on all sorts of other things.

The demonisation of immigrants as if they are the cause of the country's woes is like taking a nuclear bomb to deal with a splinter.

I would advise anyone pro Reform to wind their necks in. Not a threat from me in any way, I just think they would quickly attract a very strong response. They would have to be pretty stupid to do it.
